Dust Bunnies

How's the writing going?

So glad you asked.

Does that answer the question?

Nothing. I got nothing.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Nothing But Excuses

It's not that I suck at goals, it's just that I set them in unrealistic times.

When one works retail, the odds of having anything finished by Christmas are pretty slim. I don't have days off until the new year. When exactly am I supposed to finish Todd's story?

Not this year apparently.

Ch-ch-changes

Holy cow.

I do not handle change well.

Especially when it's all being thrown at me at once. First gmail has changed and I'm still adapting to that. Now Twitter.

Then I decided to update my operating system to Lion. Hey. Did you know Lion hates Mac PPC programs? I didn't. So there was a huge shock (okay...I think I had a heart attack) when I saw a big ol' "can't-touch-this" through my Word only to be told my laptop that it hates my old version of Word. So that meant I had to march off to Futureshop to get a new Office.

On a Saturday.

During Christmas shopping season.

Oh that was fun!

Then once I had Office loaded, I discovered Word had changed.

Sigh.

I cannot function with all this change. Seriously. Not all at once.

Apparently I've turned into an old stick-in-the-mud when I wasn't looking.

Crap.

2012 Goals

Tonight was the Christmas party for CaRWA. Huzzah to my Santa who gave me Peppermint Bark. Mmm yummers.

What is also done is goal setting for the next year.

Anyone who knows me knows that setting goals and I are not compatible. At all.

Needless to say, I made goals. Here's hoping I can follow through.

#1 - complete Todd's story and submit it
#2 - finish the urban fantasy story starring March
#3 - rewrite the Drummond Sister stories and release them as much much longer stories
#4 - redesign the urban fantasy website

Oh man...

I better get started.

Reset

So November faded away without a completed manuscript. Damn it.

The new goal is to have Todd & Amber's tale finished by Christmas.

It's tough to write, I admit, when my hours at work are so helter-skelter. I work retail. It's Christmas. That means it's all kinds of fun. Mostly I'm exhausted when I come home that all I want to do is sit on the couch and veg out watching Storage Wars. That, however, is not getting the story written.

So it's time to suck up my whining and write the book.

It was way easier to write at my last job...when I opened up the Word file instead of tackling a job sitting on my desk. Yeah. Employee of the Month I was not.

I read somewhere on a blog (and I wish I could remember where to give credit where it's due) that 500 words = 30 minutes of writing and 1,000 words = 1 hour.

The goal is 35,000 words and that means I have 31,000 words to go. One hour a day gives me 31 days.  And my goal is Christmas?

Good luck, Jenna. Good freakin' luck.
